Canyons School District · Student Art Contest

Make Your Mark: put your art in the new Canyons Innovation Center

Submit by December 15, 2026. If your design is picked, it's printed huge and hung on the wall for good when the building opens in August 2027.

Selected students are credited on-site and get a certificate.

The Contest

This is your chance to make your mark.

The new Canyons Innovation Center needs real student artwork on its walls, and this is your shot at putting it there. If your design is picked, it gets printed big and hung for good when the building opens. Any student, any grade, K–12, at any Canyons District school can enter — no art class required — alone or with up to two friends.

What you submit

Your finished artwork, in any medium, sent in electronically by December 15.

What happens after that

A review panel picks the winning designs. Winners get printed big and installed when the building opens in August 2027.

The Space

See where these panels go

Real photos of the hallways, under construction. Each hallway is themed to its own pathway, so the panels in it should feel like they belong there. The black rectangles are TVs — not part of this project. The pink-outlined triangular sections are where your panel design will actually be installed.

Pick Your Spot

12 real wall spaces. Pick one (or more).

Every space below is a different shape and size — these are the real outlines from the building's blueprints, not plain rectangles.

What should it look like?

Each hallway is themed to its own pathway — Engineering, Health Sciences, or Computer Programming — so your design should fit the one you pick. Bold and high-tech: one strong image — a hand, tool, circuit, or object tied to that pathway — set against a solid black, white, or gray background, with equations, diagrams, or code worked into it as texture. The reference photos on each space below show the vibe to aim for.

  • Design on a plain rectangle at the size shown on the card — we'll trim it to the wall's true shape. Keep your main image inside the outline so nothing important gets cut.
  • One bold central image — a hand, tool, object, or figure tied to your pathway — with equations, diagrams, or code worked in as texture.
  • Background matching your chosen space's spec: light/white, dark/black, or dark/gray.
  • A clear scan or well-lit photo is fine to enter. If you're selected, we'll work with you on a print-ready file.
